journal #9 (perks of being a wallflower)
the book i read was a coming of age because it shows charlie growing up through high school . hanging out with friends going to parties, doing drugs , and smoking. And he is thinking about sex and liking sam . and he is trying to get more mature so he could go out with her because she told him he was to young for her. also he was finding out what older kids act like like when he says that dave raped that girl. He started doing drugs because thats usually how people fit in by doing all the things everyone else does. charlie changed alot from the start of the book because he was a good kid and now he is thinking about sex alot and doing drugs and drinking alot of beer.

Hi Cody,
ReplyDeleteD'you think Charlie will survive his coming of age experience? In some ways, it seems kind of extreme...but maybe that's the way it is with teens nowdays. Did it seem like a realistic novel?

yes it did seem realistic. like its pretty much any teenager is going through during their high school years because people get more open to trying new things. i think in the end charlie will survive his coming of age because he has friends that arent forcing him to do things and they protect him.
